If there’s ONE book I wish all parents of college-bound students would read, it’s THIS one. ESPECIALLY if you have a high-performing student that appears to be driven towards highly-selective/rejective schools.
If you have (or expect to have) a student that applies to a highly-selective/rejective university, you and your student need to be aware of how admissions decisions are made - how a class is “shaped” - and why admissions decisions sometimes SEEM random. (They’re not.)
Whether you choose to work with an IEC to guide you through the admissions process or not, do your kid and yourself a favor and work to understand how admissions has changed over the past 30 years. It will guide your discussions with your student, and ultimately help “calm the crazy” of their senior year.
