PSAT 2022

PSAT scores are coming out this week. A few things to remember:

The PSAT is out of 1520. The actual SAT is out of 1600. Although there are many concordant tables in the google-verse that will help you TRY to predict what the SAT equivalency is, in my experience the PSAT is not a very reliable predictor of SAT scores.

• If your student is a sophomore, use the information from the PSAT to inform what areas to focus on in their test prep plan. • If your student is a junior, MAKE SURE you’ve got a solid prep plan and make those testing reservations! The next ACT is in February, next SAT is in March. Be sure to prepare, but don't put off testing - your summer will be busy with essay writing and applications!

For those that did well on the PSAT, please know we will not know the exact index for National Merit Semifinalists until Fall 2023. (For context, the cutoff for Florida students that took the PSAT in the Fall of 2021 was an index score of 216. To see the historical index for other states: https://blog.prepscholar.com/psat-score-needed-for...)

Lastly, please remember - test scores alone are NOT going to secure/guarantee admission. Deep breaths. Your kids are watching your reaction closely, and they already KNOW these are important tests. Please remember that this is just ONE piece of the admissions puzzle, and your kid is MORE THAN A SCORE.
