Important information for Florida Students in the Class of 2026

The Florida Department of Education Office of Student Financial Assistance recently announced new test score criteria for Class of 2026 students pursuing Bright Futures scholarships. This change is ONLY for the Class of 2026 (Class of 2025 test thresholds remain the same).

For the Class of 2026, the test requirements have “softened” slightly due to the threshold percentiles required by Florida Statute s.1009.531 and corresponding national test percentile drops. Please note: this does not mean the requirements are “easier” for the Class of 2026. What it means is we’re seeing lower performance on the SAT/ACT/CLT, and as a result, the threshold has been adjusted. Your student should continue to prepare for these tests.

Likewise, please remember that the GPA requirement for Bright Futures is a recalculated GPA¸ consisting of core classes only (4 English, 4 Math, 3 Science w/lab, 3 Social Studies, and two sequential foreign languages). Be aware: the GPA shown on your student’s transcript IS NOT the Bright Futures GPA. The “weights” to calculate this Bright Futures GPA are almost always different than those of your local high school.
